The Associate Director, Patient Affairs is a global role that will lead the development and execution of Grifols patient engagement strategy for aging Alzheimer’s Disease and neurodegenerative disease states. With the growing importance of the patient voice in product development and approval, this position will play a key role in supporting Grifols’ innovation pipeline in areas focused on neurodegenerative diseases. This role understands the needs of the business and of the patient communities and executes on opportunities to work at the intersection of these two priorities.

Given the importance of this role, the candidate should have significant experience in the aging and Alzheimer’s Disease areas. This may include clinical experience in the field and/or significant experience serving the needs of relevant patient communities as part of an established patient organization. The appropriate candidate is expected to have 10+ years of relevant work experience.

This role will collaborate closely and align with Grifols teams that have a focus on aging and Alzheimer’s including Medical Affairs, Innovation Office, and various other cross-functional groups.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership, direction, and expertise in the incorporation of patient insights into corporate decision making

• Pursue an enterprise-wide approach to patient centricity and patient engagement as a competitive advantage

• Develop metrics which support and demonstrate the value of patient engagement to the business

• Develop and drive company-wide strategies which support systematic Alzheimer’s/Aging patient community engagement

Lead Patient Advocacy and Engagement Strategies Across the Company

• Integrate patient advocacy and engagement across Grifols to ensure interactions are seamless, strategic, and coordinated through a patient centricity model

• Research and maintain current knowledge on global healthcare system regulations, guidelines, and communications constraints to ensure compliance

• Work with internal partners to develop policies, position statements, SOPs, etc. on patient inclusion and engagement as part of a Centre of Excellence approach

• Identify patient engagement best practices and incorporate where beneficial

• As appropriate, represent Grifols on key senior-level governance forums, working groups and teams in a standing or ad hoc fashion

• Support the development of Strategic Plans aligned with other functional areas

• Systemize a corporate process for collating and sharing patient and Patient Advocacy Group insights accessible to relevant decision makers

Develop and Drive Company-Wide Approaches on Interactions with Alzheimer’s Disease & Aging Patient Communities

• Serve as Grifols primary voice and subject matter expert on patient-centric practices/trends, and provide perspectives and expertise to senior leadership and cross-functional partners

• Update and inform senior leaders and other cross-functional partners on key industry trends in relation to patient engagement practice

• Identify and deploy external sources of advice to support patient engagement at Grifols

• Create opportunities for Grifols employees to experience and understand the lives lived by patients and families of the rare diseases

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Successful track record in patient engagement / advocacy a plus

• English fluency required, Spanish fluency desired.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong skills in PowerPoint.

• Sensitivity and flexibility for working in a multicultural environment

• Ability to travel (domestic & international travel approx. 25% annually)

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in clinical health profession or other relevant degree program a requirement including (RN, NP, PA, MPH, PhD, etc.)

• 12 years of relevant experience in geriatric, dementia, neurodegenerative disease field strongly preferred;  extensive experience in related patient affairs field desired

• Experience in lieu of education will be considered
