Location: In-person hybrid role in Washington, DC - in the office two days a week (Tuesdays & Thursdays).
Wage Category: A salary of $110,000-$140,000 commensurate with experience

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

As the Director, Member Engagement you will:

  • Serve as lead staff for APhA in the federal pharmacy, public health, and health-systems sectors.
  • Serve as staff liaison to assigned member engagement groups (e.g. federal pharmacists, government pharmacists, public health pharmacists, health-system pharmacists, compounding pharmacists, academy executive committees, workgroups, task forces, and special interest group(s), etc.).
  • Serve as primary staff leader of the Member Engagement Department and oversee several staff members.
  • Serve as an APhA liaison to assigned external coalitions and workgroups, representing the Association at external meetings as assigned.
  • Plan and execute associated membership activities and programming at various conferences, meetings, and networking events (e.g. APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition, Academies Leadership Meeting, Joint Federal Pharmacy Seminar, etc).
  • Review internal/external materials (e.g., practice-related publications, guidelines on key practice issues, press releases, and other communications) and providing edits, feedback and comments that reflect the policies and positions of APhA, as requested.
  • Monitor the environment and contribute to efforts to advance key patient care services, including but not limited to, medication management services, chronic disease management, prevention and wellness, medication safety, vaccines, public health, science, and research.
  • Collaborate with intra-departmental and cross-association groups to develop and communicate pathways to enhance member engagement; achieve successful outcomes for the Association; and to support other Association-wide initiatives as assigned.
  • Assist with the development, creation, promotion, and distribution of department deliverables including products, information, tools, and resources.
  • Contribute to the development of APhA related communications and marketing/promotions for member engagement and practice-related content.
  • Handling telephone, electronic and other inquiries from leaders, members and non-members and providing excellent customer service.
  • Prepare or finalize correspondence, meeting agendas and reports.
  • Develop, plan, and manage assigned budgets.

Qualifications

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR: 

APhA may be the right fit for you if:

  • Bachelors or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school/college of pharmacy required. (Completion of a pharmacy residency or fellowship program strongly preferred.)
  • You have 8-10 years of pharmacy practice-based experience. (Health-systems and federal/public health experience is strongly preferred).
  • You have an active pharmacy license in any U.S. state or jurisdiction.
  • You have prior professional association experience (preferred).
  • You have a passion and the ability to relate to and interact with a wide variety of professional audiences.
  • You have experience with volunteer leadership (preferred).
  • You are able to lead, manage and coordinate multiple workgroups.
  • You have knowledge and strong project management skills.
  • You have strong problem-solving skills, ability to develop innovative solutions and effectively implement strategies.
  • You have excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • You have strong presentation skills.
  • You have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple work tasks effectively with minimal supervision.
  • You are able to work independently, as part of a team, and effectively with volunteers to convene meetings and facilitate training/discussion that ensures membership growth.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills, a positive member-service philosophy and professional demeanor.
  • You have proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • You are able to manage virtual files, tools, resources and web pages.
  • You have experience developing and managing budgets.
  • You are able to travel as appropriate to execute duties of the position.
