Director of Development, VHL Alliance

Location: Remote and flexible work schedules that cater to your productivity style.
Wage Category: $80,000-$90,000 annual salary based upon experience.

The VHL Alliance (VHLA) is committed to improving quality of life and health outcomes for VHL patients, families, and caregivers with inclusive community building, connections to excellent education and treatment options, and advancements in medical research. The VHL Community is in a stage of great advancement. Nobel Prize winning researchers, a promising new drug therapy, and a network of 39 Clinical Care Centers offer energizing hope to individuals and their families with this rare disease.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

The important work of the VHL Alliance requires strong fundraising strategy and execution to be able to continue to service our programs for patients and families and expand our research efforts. We are seeking a savvy development professional ready to harness this hope and direct all resource development efforts to include:

  • Designing and implementing an annual fundraising plan that meets FY goals and leads to year over year growth and expands the current donor pool.
  • Developing, strengthening, and cultivating relationships with individuals, corporations, government agencies, and foundations.
  • Strategically identify new potential fundraising opportunities and donors to contribute to and grow the current donor base.
  • Overseeing grant seeking activities, including research, proposal writing, and reporting.
  • Planning and producing special fundraising events for individual and corporate opportunities.
  • Working closely with the VHLA Executive Director and team to execute on marketing and promotional plans that include giving opportunities.
  • Maintains gift recognition programs and develops the portfolio of donors.

Qualifications

  • Proven hands-on development experience including strategic cultivation through solicitation and stewardship.
  • Notable experience in proposal and grant writing, including corporate sponsorships and foundation applications.
  • A track record for increasing organizational fundraising and donor bases.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with a demonstrated record of achieving goals and outcomes.
  • Ability to think outside of the box to develop creative and innovative approaches to fundraising.
  • Willingness to leverage your experience and network to support VHL Alliance fundraising efforts.
  • Management experience with the ability to inspire and direct others is preferred.
  • Event planning capabilities and proficiency with donor management software is preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree and certification in a relevant fundraising program is highly preferred.
