Project Manager, Online Community (contract), National Health Council

Location: This position is located in Washington, DC. The National Health Council supports a hybrid workplace. Contract employees must be able and willing to work on site 1 to 3 days per week depending on project activity, and pending federal and local health authority guidance.
Reports to: Executive Vice President, Membership, Development & Events
Wage Category: Approximately $45 per hour; 30 to 40 hours per week; one year contract guaranteed; permanent position possible

Created by and for patient organizations over 100 years ago, the National Health Council brings diverse organizations together to forge consensus and drive patient-centered health policy. We promote increased access to affordable, high-value, sustainable health care. Made up of more than 160 national health- related organizations and businesses, the NHC’s core membership includes the nation’s leading patient organizations. Other members include health-related associations and nonprofit organizations including the provider, research, and family caregiver communities; and businesses representing biopharmaceutical, device, diagnostic, generic drug, and payer organizations.

The Project Manager, Online Community will assist the NHC in in developing and implementing its first online membership community. The Project Manager will coordinate internal stakeholders to develop community standards and galvanize member community to engage with new online resource hub. Project success may lead to permanent position.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Technical

  • Research and recommend community tools
  • Manage and administer community platforms and tools

Content Management

  • Develop content curation protocols and SOPs
  • Collaborate to develop and manage an editorial calendar
  • Collaborate on content creation (blog posts, videos, newsletters, etc.)
  • Curate, manage, and share content

Engagement and People

  • Develop and execute member engagement processes
  • Ongoing monitoring of activity
  • Promote and reward valuable community behaviors
  • Facilitate connections among members

Strategic and Business

  • Measure and report community performance

Qualifications

  • Direct experience with online community development and management
  • Strong organizational and resource management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage various tasks.
  • Project management experience; detail oriented
  • Experience with developing criteria and standard operating procedures
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Exceptional people skills and the ability to engage and build relationships with colleagues, members and vendors.
  • Experience working for a non-profit patient advocacy organization or association preferred but not required.

Education: High school diploma required, Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred; project management certification desired, but not required.
