Join Us in Raising Awareness for these Causes in April

By Deasia Lamar, Communications Intern

NHC member patient advocacy organizations work tirelessly to educate, promote, advocate, and raise awareness and funding for their causes. Here’s how you can help advance these groups’ missions and spread awareness this month.

National Minority Health Month

Join the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health (HHS OMH) in observing April as National Minority Health Month. Throughout April, HHS OMH is encouraging everyone to take simple and creative steps to stay active and support physical, mental, and emotional wellness. This year, HHS invites everyone to join #ActiveandHealthy, a national social media campaign that will focus on the steps the nation can take every day in and around the home to keep our minds and bodies active. The campaign will include creative ways to keep older adults and children safe and physically engaged, along with ideas to stay connected with friends, family, and communities.

Ways to get involved:

National Infertility Awareness Week (April 18–24)

Join RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association in observing April 18-24 as National Infertility Awareness Week.  According to RESOLVEone in eight U.S. couples of childbearing age has trouble conceiving or carrying a pregnancy to term. RESOLVE addresses this public health issue by providing community to these women and men, connecting them with others who can help, empowering them to find resolution, and giving voice to their demands for access to all family building options. During National Infertility Awareness Week in April, RESOLVE will rally the infertility community to raise awareness about the significant lack of access to family building options and emotional support for millions of women and men struggling to build a family.
