Susan Gaffney Joins the National Health Council as Vice President, Membership, Development & Operations

Washington, DC – April 8, 2020 – The National Health Council (NHC) has named Susan Gaffney, as Vice President, Membership, Development, and Operations. In this newly created, leadership position, Gaffney will lead NHC’s membership services; sponsor development and relations; and oversee the day-to-day operations of the NHC.

“In just a few short weeks, Susan has proven to be an invaluable member of the NHC team and a welcome addition,” said Marc Boutin, JD, NHC’s Chief Executive Officer. “Her experience in leadership, strategy, fundraising, operations, and governance will help guide the NHC into our next century.”

Gaffney brings extensive experience in to the NHC. She was most recently the National Director, Government and Membership at the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in Arlington, VA, where she held additional positions such as National Director, Field Capacity and Governance; Director, Governance and Operations; Senior Project Manager, Operations; and Manager, Development over more than a decade. She also held positions as the Director of Strategic Partnerships at New Leaders for New Schools in Washington, DC; Director of the Center for Excellence at Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center in New York City; and as a Communication Coordinator and Research Assistant at Columbia University’s Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in New York City.

She earned her Master of Science in nonprofit management and urban policy at The New School in New York City and her bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure University in St. Bonaventure, NY.
