Celebrating 32 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act
By: Jennifer Dexter, AVP, Policy
Yesterday I was honored to attend a Congressional celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA is the landmark legislation that guaranteed equal access and rights for people with disabilities.

The event was hosted by the House of Representatives’ bipartisan Disabilities Caucus. Representative Jim Langevin (D-RI) is the current chair of the caucus and served as host. We were joined by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-RI), Representative Steny Hoyer (D-MD and the original House sponsor of the ADA), Senator Bob Casey (D-PA). Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and Debbie Dingell (D-MI) also spoke and will serve as the chairs of the caucus next year. The evening wrapped up with recorded remarks from President Biden praising the progress the ADA has provided.
