Patient advocacy groups continue to work tirelessly to educate, promote, advocate, and raise awareness and funding for their causes. During these challenging times, it is essential to prioritize patient advocacy to help spread awareness for their causes on behalf of people with chronic diseases and disabilities. Here’s how you can help advance these groups’ missions and spread awareness.
Childhood, Ovarian, Gynecological, and Blood Cancer Awareness Months
Join the American Cancer Society in September as it recognizes September as Childhood Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, Gynecological Cancer, and Blood Cancer Awareness Month. The American Cancer Society is dedicated to conducting research, sharing expert information, supporting patients, and spreading the word about cancer prevention through its extensive resources, partnerships and programs.

National Suicide Prevention Week (September 5- 11, 2021)
During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is especially important to protect one’s mental health and cope with uncertainty. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention observes National Suicide Prevention Week to raise awareness about mental health and host virtual events to prevent suicide. The Trevor Project provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people.

Orthostatic Tremor Awareness Month
According to the National Organization for Rare Disorders, primary orthostatic tremor is characterized as a rapid tremor in the legs that occurs when standing. Primary orthostatic tremor can have a significant impact on the quality of life for those affected. September is Orthostatic Tremor Awareness Month. Help raise awareness on the impacts orthostatic tremors have on patients.
