Launched in fall 2025, the Marfan Foundation’s Community Companion is a ChatGPT-based tool that helps people living with Marfan, Loeys-Dietz, VEDS, and related aortic conditions quickly find trusted information. The tool searches the Foundation’s websites and clinical guidelines to provide conversational answers to non-urgent questions. It does not learn from user conversations or the open internet and is designed to complement—not replace—human support services. Use case specific best practice guides provide high level industry and consensus defined insights and recommendations, for the application of responsible AI principles to a specific use case. This guide focuses on a Direct to Consumer, General Health Advice Chatbot. The guide is organized by role (developer/implementer) and responsible AI principle areas where applicable.
This Responsible AI content for the General Health Advice Chatbot use case aligns to the CHAI Responsible AI Guide (RAIG) by establishing a Testing and Evaluation (T&E) Framework: a consensus-defined set of methods, metrics, and/or benchmarks for developers and implementers to more concretely evaluate the responsible use of AI solutions for general health advice chatbots.
