The National Health Council Launches PXI to Put Patients at the Center of Health Innovation

November 4, 2025, WASHINGTON—The National Health Council (NHC) announces the launch of PXI: Patient Experience + Innovation Center, a national initiative designed to ensure patients and caregivers play a leading role in shaping the development and use of artificial intelligence and digital health technologies across the health ecosystem.

The PXI Center operates under a concierge model, providing tailored services that connect collaborators, including innovators, researchers, nonprofits, and investors, with patients and caregivers based in the United States whose experiences can guide design, implementation, and evaluation of health technologies. This personalized approach ensures every project reflects real-world patient needs and builds trust in emerging tools.

“AI and digital tools hold incredible promise, but their impact depends on how well they serve the people who rely on them,” said NHC CEO Randall Rutta. “PXI gives patients a seat at the table and innovators a structured way to listen, learn, and build solutions that truly meet patient needs.”

Through curated educational resources, collaborative projects, and leadership networks, the PXI Center helps organizations of all sizes advance innovation informed by patient experience. At its core is the Stakeholder Collaborative, a tiered partnership structure that accommodates diverse interests and advances business, mission, and philanthropic goals at the intersection of health and technology. Each tier invites meaningful participation and support. The initiative also includes Pathways to Partnership, enabling smaller nonprofits and grassroots organizations to participate regardless of budget.

The launch of PXI reflects the NHC’s ongoing commitment to responsible AI in health care. To advance this work, the NHC and Sphere, the deep-tech company behind the enterprise AI platform OrgBrain, recently formed a partnership to support patient-centered integration of AI across health organizations.

Together, these efforts reflect the NHC’s vision for a health ecosystem where technology strengthens, rather than replaces, the patient voice.
