Bob Scott
Director, Membership Operations | bscott@nhcouncil.org
By the time Bob Scott joined the National Health Council in June of 2020, he had already built up a background of industry experience and accomplishments working with various nonprofit organizations stretching all the way back to 2007.
Scott serves the NHC as its Director, Membership Operations and had previously worked as the Senior Manager, Governance and Membership at NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) where he focused on nonprofit governance, compliance, strategy, and member support.
Before NAMI, Scott served as the Chartering Specialist with Volunteers of America, managing the verification process by which affiliates of the national organization met the ongoing requirements to maintain their charters with the VOA.
In his role with the NHC, Scott provides support for the 145 member organizations, ensuring they can be engaged in critical issues related to chronic health conditions at the heart of the NHC’s mission.
Scott’s experience also allows him to enhance and improve NHC members’ experience with the Standards of Excellence Certification Program®.
He also works with the operations team to make certain that NHC staff have the tools necessary to function productively in an ever-changing work environment.
Scott is a proud Virginian, having grown up in the Blue Ridge Mountains area where he now calls Roanoke home and graduating from Virginia Wesleyan University with a degree in communications and sociology.
However, growing up in southern Virginia was not without its challenges and Scott knew many families that struggled to find access to reliable health care coverage.
That issue was later made worse by the rise of the opioid pandemic, an ongoing problem that has impacted Scott’s hometown and the surrounding communities greatly.
With that in mind, Scott has voiced an interest in seeing the NHC explore the possibility of taking on more membership organizations that base themselves around addiction prevention and rehabilitation.
