NHC Advocates for COVID-19 Vaccine Confidence & Equitable Delivery

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 155.3 million people have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and about 120.2 million people have been fully vaccinated. The New York Times, reported that 59.1 percent of adults have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
This data comes in just as new guidance from the CDC was released on Thursday that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks indoors. The guidance suggests that fully vaccinated people can resume activities as occurred prior to the pandemic, without implementing social distancing measures or wearing masks.
On May 4, President Biden unveiled a new plan, announcing that his goal is to administer at least one vaccine shot to 70 percent of the U.S. adult population by July 4, 2021.
Biden said they plan to make vaccines “more accessible than ever before, continuing to increase people’s confidence in the vaccines and ensuring that everyone is reached in the response.”

The President also announced plans to begin vaccinating adolescents in the U.S. as soon as possible. Last week, the FDA expanded emergency use authorization for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to adolescents aged 12-15.
