2023 Health Leadership Conference Inspires Nonprofit Leaders and Volunteers

By: Jennifer Schleman, SVP, Communications & Governance

The 2023 National Health Council (NHC) Health Leadership Conference (HLC) is in the books!

“The 2023 Health Leadership Conference has reaffirmed that collaboration with patient advocacy organizations is key to solving the most challenging problems patients face. Patients must be at the center of everything we do, and they must always have a seat at the table.”

The NHC would like to thank all who participated in the Conference – NHC members, Board members, event sponsors, and speakers. It was great seeing everyone in Coral Gables!

Attendees enjoyed several opportunities for in-person networking, whether formally during our Opening Night Reception and Partner Networking Reception, or informally between sessions or over a meal.

“There was so much good information shared at the 2023 HLC. I came back from the conference with a list of to-do items and follow ups.”

Session highlights included:

  • Opening keynote speaker John Nosta, who focused on the shifting roles of the physician, patient, and caregiver in today’s complex health care environment, exploring the future of health care that enticed participants with the possibilities, while considering the fears that can hold us back from embracing new ways of doing things.
  • A fireside chat with Dr. Wendy Ellis, who asserted that the causes of health inequities are deep, generational, and institutional, with systems that are designed to perpetuate inequities. And the nonprofit advocacy community plays an important role in countering these inequities.
  • Two lively “Show and Tell,” back by popular demand, where attendees shared success stories, “ah ha” moments, emerging best practices, pitfalls, partner opportunities, and other news that informed and inspired.
  • Speaker Anthony Shop, who inspired attendees to demonstrate thought leadership in their industry, build their brand among partners, recruit the best talent for their organization, and engage their current workforce by becoming a Chief Influencer via LinkedIn.
  • And so much more!

The Conference’s full summary and presentation slides can be found on the NHC website.
