Get Ready for the 2025 Science of Patient Engagement Symposium!
By: Lillian Witting, MPH, CAPM
Engaging with patients is key to innovation in medicine, MedTech, and artificial intelligence (AI). Patients, their families, and caregivers can provide unique insights at all stages of development for a new drug, treatment, or technology. By engaging with patients and treating them as equal partners, researchers and product developers can integrate these insights into practical and innovative solutions to meet their diverse needs.
Join the National Health Council (NHC) on May 7–8 for the Science of Patient Engagement Symposium to explore how patient engagement is evolving and contributing to science and medicine. This year’s theme, Elevating Innovation in Medicine, MedTech, & AI, focuses on how engaging patients can help drive innovation.
Successful patient engagement can take many forms, including patient-led research and co-creation of medical devices to meet specific needs. Meaningful patient engagement includes open, direct communication, reciprocal partnerships between patients and researchers, and clearly outlined and transparent research designs.
The Symposium will bring these aspects of patient engagement to life with perspectives of both patients and experts in medicine, MedTech, and AI. Some key sessions are:
- Innovation in Access, Treatment, & Discovery
- When MedTech and Patient Engagement Collide
- Breakthrough Health AI case-studies in Chronic Disease Detection
- Patient Empowerment Through Machine Learning and Large Language Models
Save the date and join the NHC at the historic National Press Club on May 7–8 to connect, learn, and shape the future of patient-centered innovation.
