Getting to Know: Allen Pinn, Policy Coordinator

The following is a Q&A to get to know the latest addition to the National Health Council team, Allen Pinn:

Putting Patients First (PPF) Blog: How did you first hear about the National Health Council and what made you want to become part of the NHC team?

I first heard about the National Health Council (NHC) through LinkedIn. I was immediately interested in the NHC because several of its member organizations work for causes that I care about deeply. I am very excited to join the NHC and assist in its important work.

PFF Blog: You work on the NHC Policy team. What upcoming projects are you excited about working on?

Currently, I am working on my first blog post and keeping track of all the news surrounding reconciliation/Build Back Better and drug pricing. I am eager to see how my work will evolve as we head into the midterm elections.

PFF Blog: What specifically interests you about health policy work?

The NHC’s mission to improve patients’ lives is a driving force in why I wanted to pursue a career in health policy. As someone who has dealt with a health issue, I believe many issues can be prevented or made better through public policy. Navigating the health care system is something that all of us have dealt with or will deal with at one point in our lives. I want to use my experiences to help individuals in this space.

PPF Blog: Tell us something about you personally. What do you do outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling and getting outdoors. My favorite places to visit are national parks. I appreciate any time I get to spend outside taking in everything Mother Nature has to offer us.
