Getting to Know: Breshay Moore, Digital Media Coordinator
Following is a Q&A to get to know Breshay Moore, Digital Media Coordinator, who began working at the National Health Council (NHC) in January 2022.
Putting Patients First (PPF) Blog: Why did you want to work for the NHC?
I’ve always shown an interest in nonprofit work, looking into different topic areas and various organizations. I finally found an area that I’m interested in expanding my knowledge on, health care policy and access to health care. I wanted to work for the NHC because I align with and support their work and efforts regarding equitable health care access and patient-centered health care strategies.
PPF Blog: Part of your job is to manage the NHC’s social media platforms. How do you see the organization using these tools to interact with health influencers?
I see our social media platforms being used to promote new health policy initiatives and offering that same information to health influencers. Our social media platforms can also keep them up to date on trending topics around health policy, NHC and member projects, and news in health care.
PPF Blog: What project are you most excited to work on at the NHC?
I am most excited to work on projects that focus on mental health support and services. Access to affordable mental health services is an important part of health care. With the COVID-19 pandemic being an ongoing issue, there are many people who are learning to cope, and using mental health services is one of those ways. But not everyone has access to those resources. So, promoting and offering resources can assist those in need of help.
PPF Blog: Tell us something about you personally. What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy trying new recipes and new restaurants in the Washington, DC area when I can. I try to make it a habit to cook a new recipe every few months or so. I am also very invested in the cooking side of YouTube. I mostly watch food videos from ‘Binging with Babish’ and ‘Epicurious.’ Next, I would like to get into baking my own breads, cakes, and pastries.
