Latest Trusted Messengers campaign creates awareness around chronic disease prevention and management

By: Indu Berman, Project Manager, Programs

In early February, the National Health Council (NHC) launched a Trusted Messenger campaign, Advancing Advocacy for Chronic Disease Prevention and Management, which has now reached more than 21 million people. In the campaign, an impressive group of grassroots leaders and community advocates shared insights about ways to reduce risk factors and improve health outcomes for chronic conditions. The discussions focused on heart disease, diabetes, and obesitythree conditions that affect over 60 million Americans.

Over a two-month period, the NHC conducted a thoughtfully designed paid campaign to ensure the Trusted Messenger videos reached their intended audiences, including people living in lower income areas, tribal communities, and those with chronic diseases. It was extremely successful in reaching these communities, as evidenced by our social media metrics:

    • Impressions: 21.99 million
    • Audience Reached: 10.87 million
    • Video Completions: 10.82 million
    • Clicks to content: 6,400+

To increase the reach of the Trusted Messenger campaign, the videos were shown through Connected TV as advertisements on streaming services. The top five impressions by state were Oklahoma, Alabama, South Carolina, Kentucky and Mississippi. On the NHC’s YouTube Channel, the campaign also received 773K+ views.

As the NHC continues to work to ensure patients have access to the information they need to manage their health, we encourage you to check out the Trusted Messenger Campaign and share the videos with your network. Remember to make a plan with your health care provider about how to best manage your health!
