The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) helps patients get the medications they need at a cost they can afford.

AMCP’s 8,000 members work to provide medication therapies for nearly 300 million Americans who are served by health plans, pharmacy benefit management firms, emerging care models, and government. In an increasingly complex health care landscape, AMCP’s pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other members work to optimize medication and other therapies while balancing limited resources.

AMCP serves their members in many ways, including providing two annual live national conferences, online learning programs, and federal and state policy advocacy. Each is designed with AMCP’s mission in mind: to improve patient health by ensuring access to high-quality, cost effective medications and other therapies. To optimize the value of pharmaceutical products and pharmacy services delivered to patients, AMCP also publishes JMCP, a monthly peer-reviewed journal covering all aspects of managed care pharmacy.
AMCP is an expert in population health management and medication benefit design and advocates on behalf of policies that advance patient care, quality, access, and affordability. Through its work, AMCP brings together diverse managed care thought leaders and drives challenging conversations to seek solutions that ensure access to medicines, improve health outcomes, and safeguard the wise use of health care dollars.

The National Health Council brings together the various sectors of the health care system, most notably the patient community, to provide a voice for Americans affected by chronic illness. It is this multi-stakeholder approach focused on solutions to the challenges we face in our health care system that drew AMCP to membership in NHC. Being a member of the NHC allows AMCP to connect with patient advocacy organizations and others who, like AMCP, are focused on addressing these challenges.
