Assistant/Associate, Marketing & Communications, National Health Council

Location: Washington, DC
Department: Marketing & Communications
Reports to: Assistant Vice President of Marketing & Communications; Collaborates with all NHC staff and interacts with members at all levels.

The Assistant/Associate, Marketing & Communications provides administrative and project support to the Assistant Vice President of Marketing & Communications and the Manager of Marketing & New Media.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintaining systems to process and track media contacts, media mentions, and external NHC staff presentations
  • Drafting/editing and sending routine correspondence
  • Attending hearings, briefings, meetings, and conferences and preparing summaries
  • Assisting with drafting blogs, social media content, newsletters, website content, videos, and other communications materials
  • Assist Manager, Marketing & New Media with day-to-day management of NHC’s social media channels
  • Serving as project lead on an assortment of NHC marketing and communications initiatives
  • Providing meetings and logistical support (e.g., scheduling meetings, taking and/or distributing meeting minutes)
  • Compiling materials for marketing and communications activities/meetings
  • Providing general administrative support (e.g., copying, filing, managing databases, performing relevant record keeping, and assisting with office-wide administrative tasks)
  • Performing other duties as assigned


Assistant and Associate:

  • Excellent communications skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and WordPress; experience with Microsoft CRM, and Click Dimensions preferred
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Self-motivated and ability to work proactively and independently when necessary
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work well under pressure
  • Work experience in an office environment is a plus, especially if in a non-profit organization


  • At least one year of experience in a communications, marketing, social media, or related position

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.
