Asthma is a chronic disease that causes airways to become inflamed which can make it difficult to breathe. Allergies are also the most common chronic disease in which the immune system sees a substance as harmful or overreacts to it. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) is the leading patient organization for people with asthma and allergies, and the oldest asthma and allergy patient group in the world.
