Randall L. Rutta Named NHC Chief Executive Officer

WASHINGTON, DC, January 12, 2021 – The National Health Council (NHC) Board of Directors has named Randall (Randy) L. Rutta as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer. He will begin his tenure on February 15, 2021.

“Randy’s experience as an advocate for people with chronic diseases and disabilities, including as a contributor to the Americans with Disabilities Act, is second to none,” said Diana Gray, President and CEO of the Hydrocephalus Association and Chair of the NHC Board. “His passion, vision for the future, and deep knowledge of public policy make him the ideal person to lead the NHC in its critical efforts to increase access to affordable, high-value, sustainable health care for all.”

Rutta comes to the NHC from the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association, an NHC member, where he has been President and CEO for the past year and was previously a Federal Policy Consultant for the organization. His name is well recognized in the patient advocacy community having spent 30 years at Easterseals, where he ended his tenure as the organization’s President and CEO.

“As the NHC enters its second century, I am honored to be the next leader of this premier patient-centered organization as we effect change across the entire health system,” said Rutta. “The NHC is a strong, trusted, and competent organization, and I look forward to joining Dr. Eleanor Perfetto, the entire NHC staff, and our membership to reach solutions that haven’t yet been envisioned.”

“After a comprehensive national search, our Committee was enthusiastic in selecting Randy to lead the NHC,” said Steven Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of the Sjögren’s Foundation and Chair of the NHC Search and Transition Committee. “Randy has the energy, a track record of public policy and advocacy successes, and a sense of urgency to tackle the important issues facing the patient community. We look forward to seeing what comes next.”

Rutta is the current Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease (PFCD); a member of the NHC’s Membership Committee; a member of the Steering Committee for Protecting the Immunocomprised Collaborative; and is the Vice President/Secretary of the American Eagle Lifecare Board of Directors.

Rutta has a Master of Arts from the Catholic University of America and earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota.
