The National Health Council (NHC)’s Health Leadership Conference (HLC) began as a small gathering of just over 30 CEOs and board members from patient organizations. Today, it has grown into the NHC’s premier annual event, uniting CEOs, board leaders, and senior executives from across the nonprofit health sector. In 2025, HLC welcomed a record number of participants, including nearly 60 first time attendees, who left inspired and ready to lead and collaborate for a stronger, more patient-centered health ecosystem.

This year, HLC returns to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, to provide the same great opportunities for health leaders, now with a new tagline: Leadership. Purpose. Impact. This tagline builds on HLC’s traditional themes to reflect the NHC’s commitment to equipping our members to lead strategically, build peer connections, and enhance the collective impact of the community.

HLC 2026 will offer a mix of sessions and experiences designed to inspire, connect, and empower participants. From the Future-Focused Leadership pre-conference workshop to discussions on policy, communications, AI in health care, and more, attendees will gain insights to strengthen their leadership and impact. Activities like the ever-popular Show & Tell session, volunteering with The Pantry of Broward, and morning yoga complement networking opportunities at two evening events.

Last year, attendees gained practical takeaways—from AI strategies and policy messaging to improving patient outcomes, building community, and amplifying the patient voice. As one attendee shared, “Incredible speakers, great connections with members, fantastic event app, and valuable resources. Thank you!” Another noted, “The NHC and the conference offer invaluable leadership and resources to our organization.” HLC 2026 promises even more opportunities to learn, connect, and advance your impact on the health care community.
