Agenda Outline
This half-day event will bring together leading government relations and policy professionals from the NHC’s member patient advocacy and other health nonprofit organizations to dialogue with Congressional staff who are leading on timely issues that are most important to the patient advocacy community. The meeting will also afford attendees opportunities to network and discuss best practices, challenges, and opportunities in advocacy in the 118th Congress.

12:00 – 12:10 p.m. Welcome and Introductions
Remarks by:
• Randy Rutta, CEO, National Health Council
• Eric Gascho, SVP, Policy and Government Affairs, National Health Council
12:10 – 12:30 p.m. Opening Remarks
Attendees will have an opportunity to hear from a leading health policy journalist to get the
insiders’ perspective on health policy discussions in Congress.
Remarks by:
• Victoria Knight, Health Care Reporter, Axios
12:30 – 1:15 p.m. Artificial Intelligence – Infusing the Patient Perspective
Attendees will hear from Congressional staff leading the way on the promise and pitfall of
the use of artificial intelligence in health care.
Speakers:
• John Beezer, Senior Advisor, US Senate Committee on Commerce
• Felix Wu, Legislative Assistant, Rep. Ted Lieu
1:15 – 1:30 p.m. Break
1:30 – 1:50 p.m. Announcing the New NHC Member Hub
Attendees will be introduced to a new resource that will serve as a central point
for NHC members to share information, access resources, and support one
another.
1:50 – 2:30 p.m. Table Discussions and Reporting
Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in small group discussions
about the new NHC member hub and provide input into potential uses of the
hub and what resources and features would be most useful to NHC members.
2:30 – 3:15 p.m. Senate Panel
A bipartisan panel of staff members from key Congressional committees will
discuss the Senate health agenda for the remainder of the Congressional
calendar and opportunities for engagement by patient groups.

• Aliza Silver, Deputy Director, Health Policy, Republican, Senate Health, Education, Labor
and Pensions Committee
3:15 – 3:30 p.m. Break
3:30 – 4:15 p.m. Table Discussions and Reporting Focused on Policy
Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in small group discussions
about policy and operational issues affecting the patient community. Each
group will then report the results of their discussion to the larger group to
inform and educate each other. Each breakout session will have an assigned
topic with guiding questions to spur discussion.
4:15 – 5:00 p.m. Bipartisan House Committee Panel
A bipartisan panel of staff members from key Congressional committees will discuss the
House health agenda for the remainder of the Congressional calendar and opportunities
for engagement by patient groups.
